![]() I want to alert you all to a change in venue for the gathering for tomorrow. It's a long story, but suffice to say, this is my fault. I believe though I have made up for it with a location that will actually be even better than the Heartland Brewery. ![]() Hello all, I'm sending out this quick note to let you all know that Mister Cipolla has passed away at the age of 80. If you click on the link, you'll be taken to his online obit which features the information about the wake services. http://www.nyjnews.com/obits/Obit1.php?pid=2691169 I'm currently putting together a newsletter that I will be sending out this weekend. Keep an eye out for it. Submitted by drewshi on December 13, 2008 - 12:22pm.

Class of 1986 Newsletter Issue Fifteen December 2008 I apologize for taking up your time, but I ask that you please take a moment to read the appeal in the link above, and if you have the time, respond. The key point here is that the Archdiocese is taking our retroactive pay for the last year off the table, even though they had already budgeted it. We have been without a raise since September 2006. As alumni of this school, I ask that you take a moment to remember those teachers who made a difference in your life. One such teacher, Jim Dawson, will not only lose out on his retro pay, but also his retirement bonus because they are taking that off the table as well. Mister Dawson retired this past June. Catholic school teachers never got into the profession to be millionaires, but a fair wage and payment of what is expected is not too unreasonable a thing to ask. Class of 1986 Newsletter Issue Thirteen (so brief a newsletter, I'm not afraid to call it thirteen) November 2008 Greetings all. I hope this finds you all well. It's been awhile since I've sent anything out and I do apologize for that. Life, as John Lennon says, is what happens to you while you're busy making other plans. Recently, I've been speaking to some alumni and the conversation always turns to our last reunion and the plans for a next. The next is only a few short years away (25th). I don't know who will be running the reunion, but I offer my humble services to whoever needs it. Also, the website continues, slow though the traffic has been, save for all the porn spambots trying to get in. Submitted by drewshi on March 18, 2008 - 1:14pm.
![]() Class of 86, I'm using this forum to ask your help. As many of you have read, the Archdiocese will be closing six grammar schools in the region at the end of this school year. My son Eddie's school, St. Lawrence O'Toole, will be on of them. We've gathered the parents together in a very desperate attempt to convince the Archdiocese to give us a chance. Recent news has led me to believe this will be a lost cause, but I'm with them for the fight. (Anybody care to be a benefactor?) Submitted by drewshi on April 19, 2007 - 11:50am.

Class of 1986 Newsletter Issue Twelve April 2007 The time is flying by here at the old Citadel on the Hill. I'm getting my juniors prepared for their SATs in a little over two weeks and then the Regents follow afterwards. This year's graduating class were among my first students when I started three years ago. They drove me nutty as sophomores, but I'm proud to say that many of them have matured and are moving on to bigger and better things. And then I see how the adventure is just beginning for my freshmen. They've made it through this year, but they still have a long way to go. I remember one of the last days of classes my first year teaching here. I had a freshmen homeroom and this senior I knew stopped in to say good-bye to me. He looked over at the kids and said, "Enjoy it while it lasts. It goes by so fast." It did and it still does. John S. Drew On February 28th, Gladys Diaz, mother of Omar Diaz, passed away at the age of 70. She was surrounded by family and friends at the time of her passing. Our condolences go out to Omar and the Diaz family. Submitted by drewshi on March 6, 2007 - 6:26am.
![]() Sorry for another mailing so soon folks, but considering the timing of Chris' announcement, I felt I needed to get this out. He's about one quarter of the way to his goal of $10,000 raised. If you can take a moment, please check out the website and make a donation for this worthy cause. Hey, Chris, make sure your son's school is cool with him going bald. Mister Cleary would never have given you a pass! ;) Submitted by drewshi on March 1, 2007 - 12:57pm.

I have some updated information regarding purchasing tickets for this year's production of Godspell. If you wish to join the class of 86 for the alumni night performance on Saturday, March 24th at 8PM, you can now call the school directly and they will take your credit card information by phone. I really appreciate the alumni office doing this as it saves me and you the hassles of dealing with Paypal or mailing checks. This is only for those wishing to attend the Saturday night performance. |
