I met a good portion of the Spellman Class of '12. That's right 2012. They're a pretty short bunch, but they seem pretty nice. The troublesome field isn't quite finished, so Freshman Field Day will be in October while the sophomores and juniors take the PSAT. For those of you with school-aged children, good luck this week. Just to let everyone know, the Archdiocese has stopped negotiating with us, so John and I are on strike today and tomorrow. We just want a just wage (Our highest paid teachers only make $52,000 a year.) and a modest increase in health premiums. We shouldn't have to pay for the medical benefits of the priests and nuns. Mr. John Costello, history teacher at Spellman for over 30 years, lost his battle with cancer on Friday, March 21st. He will be sorely missed. If anyone can make it, here are the funeral arrangements: Wake: Riewerts Memorial Home - 187 South Washington Ave. - Bergenfield, NJ - Monday: 7-9 pm and Tuesday: 2-4 pm; 7-9 pm Submitted by Judith Furnari on March 2, 2008 - 7:55am.
I am participating again in the annual Revlon Run/Walk for Women's Cancer Research on Saturday, May 3rd. This year I've put together a team for the Spellman Service Society, so I'll be out there with a dozen or so students. If you can donate, I'd really appreciate, or if you'd like to join us, we're Team #3312. If we get 30 people on the team, Spellman will pay for a bus.
